Here are the Highlights from Marlice’s nomination:
Demonstrating The Arc NCR’s Mission
Marlice has been with The Arc NCR for over a year and her contributions have been nothing short of tremendous. She has made a huge difference in the life of a young woman who she provided 1:1 supports to in the agency’s Community Living department before transferring into Employment Services. Community Living was sad to see her leave but knew she would do great things in Employment. Once the COVID-19 pandemic hit and our Employment Services program temporarily closed, Marlice opted to work back in Community Living. She was, and continues to be, flexible in what hours she could be available to work and was open to helping wherever and whenever she could.
Displaying Leadership
While working in Community Living through COVID-19, she ended up finding herself working at a location where the people supported tested positive. Many people have been apprehensive about supporting someone who has tested positive, but not Marlice! She jumped in and became one of three staff that dedicated themselves to making sure that the people living in the home she worked in had the support they needed, including working awake-overnight shifts through the quarantine. Marlice put her life on hold so that she could support others, which is a testament to the type of person she is and her character.
