Since 2017, Ms. Dot, Dorothy Brown, has been working in Community Living as a Direct Support Professional and has been an essential part of the lives of those she supports. Over the years, she has worked every possible shift at the home she supports and is currently working an awake overnight shift. Her caregiving comes naturally, after taking care of her grandparents in New York City before moving to Harford County 16 years ago. “I have a love for helping people and helping them help themselves,” Ms. Dot shared. Because of her love for supporting people that Ms. Dot has been nominated as one of the 2021 Arc Angels.

Ms. Dot is pictured above with Wayne and Ricky, and to Ms. Dot, these gentlemen have become like a second family. Ms. Dot says, “The enrichment from this job is in the heart,” and this is something that other jobs cannot provide. Ms. Dot empowers people with differing abilities to live, work, thrive, and pursue personally valued lives. This is a great time to join our team and empower others as Ms. Dot does.

Congratulations to Ms. Dot on being our eleventh Arc Angel for the 2021 Holiday Season!

The Arc NCR needs your support to continue empowering people to live, work and thrive in the community. Unfortunately, only a portion of The Arc NCR’s funding comes from the state and government. Your generous support is critically important to the success of our programs.
