Susan Kemen has been involved with The Arc NCR as a board member for ten years and currently serves as the Chair of the Foundation Board. She has actively participated in our agency events, such as being a committee member for our After d’Arc Gala. She has also been involved with our Adopt-a-home program for the holidays, and she is the Chair of the Planned Giving committee as well as a member of The Arc NCR’s Ruth Miller Legacy Society. The Legacy Society provides meaningful gifts towards the future of The Arc NCR, allowing the agency to grow roots and flourish in the future. Susan has shared that “serving on The Arc NCR board provides me with ways to advocate for those with developmental disabilities and give back to my community.” The Arc NCR is honored to have Susan as an advocate, and we congratulate her on her nomination as one of the 2021 Arc Angels.
Susan writes,
“As a board member of The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR) for the past several years, I’ve learned of the many amazing, life fulfilling services provided to those with differing abilities in our community. I’ve visited The Arc NCR’s Community Living program, which provides housing to people supported by the organization. During those visits, I’ve listened to people we support as they talk about the joy and satisfaction, they feel through the employment opportunities and community programs The Arc NCR has provided them. I would like my gift to help ensure that The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region may continue to enhance the lives of all people who seek assistance, and that they will continue to be able to live, work and thrive in the community. The lives of those with differing abilities can be more secure with the simple act of becoming a member of the Ruth Miller Legacy Society.”
