Leadership:
In Personal Supports, it is required to shadow a more experienced team member for four shifts before venturing out on their own. We call this Peer Training. Holly has been such a helpful peer trainer.  She recently trained a new team member who also supports a non-verbal person. After this new employee shadowed Holly, he told me how great she was at her job and how well she prepared him to support people. She explained things well, was patient, and thorough.

Community Participation:
The person Holly supports is now getting out in the community more often than he previously could. This person loves Wegmans and can spend hours walking around the store. This person also enjoys Target, the library, local parks, and even an occasional visit to Mt. Zion. Most recently, they enjoyed a trip to the Aquarium and next month is planning to visit the Maryland Zoo. Holly supports them in each of these outings and encourages this person to continue staying engaged. She is always thinking of different or better ways to communicate and way to support this person with their goals.
