DORS Employment Services
The Arc NCR is a DORS Community Rehabilitation Provider, contracted to provide both adult services and pre-employment services.
Pre-Employment Services
One of the advantages of DORS Pre-Employment Services is the ability to begin working with students as early as 14 years old. This provides the opportunity to break down barriers through early intervention. This service is available through the age of 21, as long as the student is in school (high-school or college).
The core of pre-employment services is “Work Readiness” curriculum. This includes 15 sessions of classroom-based instruction where students will learn first-job survival skills.
Work Based Learning Experiences
Advancing in pre-employment services, work-based learning experiences (WBLEs) enable students to take on a position similar to an internship. These experiences are partnerships with local business in the community where students are paid minimum wage for a 6–8-week period. During this time students are able to gain valuable experience which helps to target their individual development needs.
Adult Services
For adults, DORS offers a wide range of support areas to help meet people where they are in their employment journey, including:
- Employment Development Services (EDS)
- Job Preparation – Resumes, Cover letters, interview skills and a Plan
- Job Development
- Job Coaching
- Travel Training
- Adult Learning Experience
